New Website

Updated: May 7, 2019

I have a new website! I’m still tweaking it and changing a few things, but I thought it was time to stop procrastinating and publish it.

About me:

I graduated from the University of Westminster BA Photographic Arts (Hons) in 2016. I spent the summer living in London and then moved to the Yorkshire Dales in autumn 2016, where I am still based now.

I fell in love with the dales’ landscape over the summer of 2015. I became fascinated by the changeability of the landscape; how in a matter of minutes it could go from desolate to glorious. The greens in the hills dark one minute and then vivid the next. I decided I wanted to try and tackle representing this changeable landscape within my art; dealing with what it meant to actually be in a space and how best to represent that experience. I began making work, questioning the medium of photography and pushing it to its limits in an effort to to try and best represent the landscape how I experienced it.

Following this summer, my final major project for university had to be about the dales. The outcome was the series The Yorkshire Dales; an exploration of the fantastic colour palette provided by the landscape, and of the ontology of the photographic medium. This was exhibited as part of Free Range 2016, at the Old Truman Brewery in London. From that exhibition it was also picked up by the law firm Travers Smith for their annual CSR art prize. The series was then exhibited in their offices in the City of London for the subsequent year, until August 2017.

So that’s where I’m up to so far really. I’ve been loosely producing work for the past year or so while living in the dales, but I needed a bit of a break from everything after completing such a full on and intense degree and a small dales village was the perfect place to recuperate. I’ve had enough time away from producing work now and am ready to go again.

I’m not sure how frequently I will be updating this blog, but I’m going to try and use it as a way of keeping both you updated with the work I am producing, and keeping myself on track producing work.
